{Drinking Games} to Play with the Family over the Holidays

Tis the season to get drunk with the fam! Bond over the holidays with the family by introducing them to some drinking games, with a holiday twist to them. Whether it’s chill and laid back like while watching Christmas movies, or very interactive and having everyone get competitive, we have the perfect options for you!

Christmas Movie Drinking Games

Home Alone

via Buzzfeed

Good luck ya filthy animals!

Santa’s Hat

Put a Santa hat on the corner of your television and turn on the tv. Every time someone looks like they are “wearing” the Santa hat, DRINK!

While watching Elf, drink every time Buddy screams “SANTA!”, runs into something, or calls his dad. Chug whenever he stuffs his face with candy, sings, or dances.

Easy Games with Little Effort

Christmas Music Drinking Games

This is a simple one. Get your drinks ready and stream a Christmas radio station. Every time a song says “Christmas”, drink. If Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” comes on, CHUG!

Instagram during the Holidays

Take a sip if someone…

…is kissing their significant other under the mistletoe.

…is posting from a tropical island.

…is at SantaCon or an ugly sweater party.

…poses with their dog dressed in festive garb.

…is in front of the tree in Christmas pajamas.

Chug if someone…

…announces their engagement.

…announces their pregnancy.

Eggnog Pong

Hoboken Irish Row Pub Tour Beer Pong

Set it up just like beer pong, except fill a few cups with eggnog instead of beer.

Card/Dice Games

(Three) Kings

Its like normal Kings, but holiday edition! If someone draws a 10, you MUST do only Christmas-related categories. Jack calls for Never Have I Ever: Christmas Edition. And Queen? You are only allowed to speak in Christmas song lyrics.

Cards Against Humanity

Although you can play this anytime of the year, it’s sure to liven up the party and get everyone in the family laughing. There is also the Cards Against Humanity Holiday Pack. The Humanity Hates the Holidays Card Game can be incorporated as an expansion pack for the original game, or is fun to be played as a small mini game!

Sassy’s Neighbourhood Guide to Tai Hang

Finding hidden treasures in one of HK’s best neighbourhoods

Tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of Causeway Bay is the charming little district of Tai Hang. A Soho in the making, the area has come a long way from streets laden with car repair shops!

Hong Kong’s best-kept secret is just a brief walk from the Tin Hau MTR and is packed full of cute little restaurants, bars and shops. Things pop up here faster than you can say ‘new opening,’ so keep an eye out for any hotspots to try out. Equally, things seem to close pretty suddenly, but this rapid turnover is a great reason to keep coming back to see what’s new! So get out of your bubble and venture towards this quaint neighbourhood for an afternoon or evening of easy, chilled out vibes…

Where to Eat and Drink:

Tipsy featured image

The latest addition to this trendy neighbourhood is an elegant yet relaxing restaurant//bar we were excited to try out. Tipsy Restaurant & Bar features the finest global ingredients for a unique tasting experience, so be sure to try the Blistered Spanish Red Prawn, King Prawn Ravioli, or the Tomahawk steak. And if it’s drinks you’re looking for, you’ll be sure to find exceptional wines, unusual European bottled beers, traditional cocktails and all the modern classics (try the Tipsy mojito!).

Tipsy makes a great place to hang out, and because of its cool brass accents and soft lighting, the ambience is cosy yet glamorous. Its space is large enough to seat parties, but has a secluded VIP area to host private affairs (of up to 10 people). There’s even a great balcony for fresh air or alfresco dining. Your weekend plans are sorted!

sassy perk

Sassy readers who mention this article will receive 15% off their bill (excluding 24, 25 and 31 December). Offer valid until 31 January, 2018.

Hello Kitty Secret Garden

Hello Kitty Secret Garden was all the rage a few years back when it first opened, and is a must-visit for Sassy readers around the area. What’s more, the entire menu is (drumroll please…) Hello Kitty themed! The restaurant even has a Nutella marshmallow s’mores pizza in the shape of her head.

Unar Coffee Company

Seating is limited at Unar (unless you fancy sitting curb-side!), but if you need a coffee on the go, then look no further! This little hole-in-the-wall proves that size doesn’t matter, and all the eager customers queuing outside pays testament to Unar’s delicious and high quality coffee, using only the finest Italian coffee beans. Hi guys! I’m Joanne. While I’m still relatively new to the Hoboken Happy Hours team, I’ve lived in Hoboken for almost 10 years and absolutely love sharing all my go-to places in the Mile Square. When I’m not producing Macy*s video magic at my 9 to 5, you can find me chilling on the back patio at Farside, testing my alcohol level at Moran’s, or venturing to the far-off lands of the earth in my personal or work travel. I hope you enjoy learning a little bit about me!

Joanne has proudly been a resident of Hoboken for 10 years. When she’s not producing video magic at her 9 to 5, she’s crossing off locations on her “Places I Want to Visit” list. One of her favorite travel memories is when she cried at the sight of the giant tortoises in the Galapagos Islands. Because that’s what happens when all your High School AP Environmental Science dreams come true.
