LBD’s Replacement: The Little White Dress

Say Hello to the LWD

We all have one: short sleeved, midi, lace, bodycon; yes that’s right, it’s the LBD (Little Black Dress). However, in recent times, and in a recent tan we may have acquired at Shek O Beach, we (and many Insta-bloggers we have stalked) have found that our trusty LBD has been taken over by the LWD. Not only does the Little White Dress emphasise our bronzy glow, but it is also the epitome of summer. Light in colour, the cute bohemian styles, embroidered bell sleeves and Grecian maxi dresses all in a cloud-coloured palette have thrown us a curve ball and has made us question what should be a wardrobe essential.

Team LBD suggests black not only looks good on everyone, but is also seasonless. You can whip out your trusty LBD for almost any occasion and most certainly feel your best, and could even argue those late night pizza slices from Paisano’s would not be a bad idea in a LBD, but most certainly be a disaster whilst wearing white. However, the LWD has a certain je ne sais quoi about it, you know? It just feels like summer.

Yet there is a time and a place to wear the iconic LWD; and we have rounded up what LWD to wear and when to wear it, so embrace the sun and get your tan on in these Hong Kong hot spots with your new BFF.

Monica Vinader Treats Sassy To An Exclusive Jewellery Party

Ain’t nothin’ but a bling thing!

Want to see a bunch of Sassy girls lose their minds? Take them to a Monica Vinader store and watch them go nuts over the latest in jewellery fashion!

rings Monica Vinader

That’s exactly what happened last week when we at Sassy were treated to an exclusive look at the latest trends Monica Vinader had in store. There were so many necklaces, pendants, earrings and more that some of us (make that all of us!) had a hard time deciding which ones to get – a few of us may have even come home with more than one piece…

While sipping on champagne and nibbling on canapés, we were presented with beautiful Havana friendship bracelets in rose gold vermeil ($1,050) – which come in a variety of colours– that we were able to have monogrammed in no time. Monica Vinader has an on-site monogramming programme which allows you to choose what you want written on the pieces and where you’d like to put them. You can customise everything, from the font chosen and the size, to designing a doodle to adorn your new piece (you can even get a delicate HK skyline etched on!). Gorgeous.

The latest trend is to double up on jewellery pieces, and we “oohed” and “ahhed” over the rings you could pair up to make a whole new look. The other option is to wear several pendants together or layer necklaces to give a bold statement to your look. Our choices were endless (making a decision was torture!), as were the options available.

A few of us were struck by the incredible gemstones turned into pendants, rings and earrings. The beauty was that no two stones were alike, so when two of us coveted the same piece, we just grabbed the one we liked and got it. Sorted!

Each of the jewellery pieces are elegant and timeless, and we know we’ll be heading back there in no time to boost our look. We may just be a little addicted!
